Light and airy Cape Cod vibe interspersed with textural, organic, and coastal elements. The dark wood floors and stained dining room ceiling provided dramatic grounding and a point of contrast for the fresh, white board and batten and chalky brick fireplace. To establish the color palette, I selected a rug in shades of blue, cream and white, then had it resized to fit the open plan seating area. To keep a sense of connection between the kitchen and living areas, I selected swivel chairs that can relate equally to both–a perfect setup for entertaining. It was also important to offer high-performance fabrics for upholstery since the residence overlooks a horse farm and is also home to the family dog. We used black iron metalwork and dressmaker details in the roman shades to offer a tailored yet approachable look. For the artwork, I used trees in a vibrant blue and white alongside dreamy abstracts.
